PRESS RELEASE 31 May 2019
Campfire TV debuts ‘Coldcut - 27 Minutes of Wisdom’ film
Radical social networking platform Campfire Convention will broadcast a special edition of the ‘Coldcut - 27 Minutes of Wisdom’ film this Friday (May 31st) at 20.30hrs (GMT), followed by an online discussion about democracy and technology.
It will form part of a 'Friday night in the Last Chance Saloon’ evening, which will throw the spotlight on Campfire TV’s innovative programming ideas.
Matt Black of Coldcut spoke exclusively to Campfire’s music editor Steve Hoare about 30 years at the cutting edge of music, art and tech. In the film, Black talks about his Ninja Jamm app and the democratisation of technology.
“The world would be a better place if more people spent their time making music and less time fighting,” concluded Black.
Campfire TV will follow the screening with a debate about the democratisation of technology, and the positive side of social media, in the wake of the Facebook / Cambridge Analytica / data mining revelations.
The debate will be hosted by Campfire founder Pete Lawrence and will feature:
- Ian Noah and Alison Bancroft from Deepview TV
- Journalist Steve Hoare
Campfire TV, one of the work-in-progress strands of Campfire’s media strategy, was soft-launched on May 1st in collaboration with Deepview TV. It aims to provide Campfire members with a forum for sharing progressive documentaries, films and discussions.
“Ian and Alison saw Campfire as an exciting practical application for their Deepview TV platform. It fits into the open source philosophy at the heart of Campfire Convention and Drupal, and it’s a great example of how developers can collaborate and all benefit,” commented Campfire founder Pete Lawrence.
The screening and debate are timed to coincide with the final minutes of Campfire Convention’s crowdfunding campaign to raise money for technology enhancements. Details here.
‘Coldcut - 27 Minutes of Wisdom’ will be screened on May 31st at 20.30hrs (GMT) with the live debate to follow immediately afterwards, followed by a night of Campfire promos and films.
